Mo Maverick Gets Top Billing In Feature

A customary 10-race program is on the docket on Thursday, January 7 at Gulfstream Park, as a five-day week of live Thoroughbred racing action continues at the historic South Florida racetrack.

The featured ninth race on the program is a $62,500 optional claiming, classified allowance affair for four-year-olds and upward sprinting five-furlongs on the turf.

Michael Dubb’s Mo Maverick, an eight-time winner on the grass, is the 3-1 morning line favorite in a field that attracted eight entrants. Jockey Jose Ortiz, Jr. has the call on the bay son of Uncle Mo for trainer Mike Maker.

Steam Touts Three Winners On Wednesday

Steam touted three winners on Wednesday’s 10-race program at Gulfstream Park and, as a result, 25 days into the 2020-21 Championship Meet in South Florida, its top picks are winning at a 29 percent clip and have finished in the money 57 percent of the time.
