A stellar 12-race program is on tap at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach on Saturday, January 23–Pegasus World Cup Day version 5.0 at the venerable South Florida racetrack.

The expansive program has seven stakes races on the agenda featuring the $4 million Pegasus World Cup Championship Invitational Series–the $3 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1) for three-year-olds and upward slated for a nine-furlong trip on the main track, and the $1 million Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational (G1T) for three-year-olds and upward going  a mile and three-sixteenths on the grass.

Korea Racing Authority’s Knicks Go, an open-length winner of the the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) at Keeneland in his last start on November 7, is the 5-2 morning line choice for the Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1); jockey Joel Rosario, who has been aboard the five-year-old gray son of Paynter for his last two wins, has the call for trainer Brad Cox.

In the Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational (G1T), Robert and Lawana Low’s Colonel Liam, who annexed the Tropical Park Derby at Gulfstream on December 26 in his last start, has been installed as the 7-2 morning line favorite for trainer Todd Pletcher. Jockey Irad Ortiz, Jr. will be astride the four-year-old gray son of Liam’s Map in the two-turn turf contest.

Steam gave out one winner on Friday’s 10-race program at Gulfstream Park and, as a result, 37 days into the 2020-21 Championship Meet in South Florida, its top picks are winning at a 29 percent clip and have finished in the money 57 percent of the time.
