Keeneland Race Course kicks off a weekend of live Thoroughbred racing action in Central Kentucky on Friday, April 9 with an excellent 10-race card anchored by a pair of stakes races–the $100,000 TVG Limestone Turf Sprint, a 5.5-furlong test for three-year-old fillies, and the $300,000 Maker’s Mark Mile (G1T), an eight-furlong turf affair for four-year-olds and upward.
In the Maker’s Mark Mile (G1T), the program’s signature event, Peter M. Brant’s Raging Bull (Fr), who will make his six-year-old debut off a five-month hiatus for trainer Chad Brown, is the 7-2 morning line choice in a well-matched field of nine-entrants. Jockey Irad Ortiz, Jr. has the call on the bay son of Dark Angel (Ire).
Top Picks Firing At 34% Clip At Spring Stand
Steam gave out three winners on Thursday’s nine-race program at Keeneland and, as a result, four days into the 2021 Spring Meet in Lexington, Ky., its top picks are winning at a 34 percent clip and have finished in the money 66 percent of the time.
Post time for the first of 10 races at Keeneland on Friday, April 9 is 1:05 P.M. (Eastern). Additionally, there is a $200,000 guaranteed pool in the 50-cent late Pick 4 (races 7-10, 4:24 P.M.
