Two Turf Stakes The Main Attractions On Thurby

Kentucky Derby week 2021 steams ahead at Churchill Downs on Thursday, April 29–affectionately known as Thurby–with an 11-program on the docket at the venerable Louisville, Ky. racetrack.
The card is highlighted by a pair of turf stakes races–the $130,000 Opening Verse Stakes for four-year-olds and upward slated for a flat mile trip on the Matt Winn Turf Course, and the $150,000 Unbridled Sidney Stakes for fillies and mares four-years-old and upward sprinting five and one half-furlongs on the grass.
In the Opening Verse, JPS Racing’s Logical Myth, who is a three-for-three on the turf going eight-furlongs, is the 3-1 morning line favorite in a field that attracted eight entrants. Jockey Luis Saez has the call on the five-year-old son of Data Link for trainer Joe Sharp.
In the Unbridled Sidney Stakes, Team Valor International’s Oleksandra (Aus), a Grade 1 winning turf sprinter, is the 3-1 morning line choice in a field that attracted nine horses in the race’s body and a pair of also eligible entrants. Joel Rosario will be astride the seven-year-old daughter of Animal Kingdom for Hall-of-Fame trainer Neil Drysdale.
