Rain Forces Friday’s Feature Off Turf
Ellis Park jump starts Fourth of July weekend in the Tri-State Area with an eight-race program on tap on Friday, July 2 at the Henderson, Ky. racetrack.
The sixth race on the card–the nominal feature–is a 40,000 optional claiming / “money since” allowance event for fillies and mares three-years-old and upward. Originally scheduled to be run on the turf, the race has been taken off the grass and will be contested at an 8.5-furlong trip on the main track.
LTB, Inc. and Naveed Chowhan’s Teenage Kicks, who will try to get her picture taken for the first time in 2021, is the 3-1 morning line favorite in a field that was scratched down to just four entrants. Jockey Brian Hernandez, Jr. will be astride the four-year-old gray daughter of Into Mischief for veteran conditioner Bernie Flint.
