Quintet Of Stakes On Saturday’s Card
Five graded stakes races worth over $3.9 million are on the docket at Kentucky Downs on Saturday, September 11, the penultimate day of the 2021 meet in Franklin, Ky.
The $600,000 Mint Ladies Sprint Stakes (G3T) kicks off the black type action in the sixth race followed by the $750,000 Kentucky Downs Ladies Turf Stakes (G3T), the $1 million FanDuel Turf Sprint (G3T), the $1 million Calumet Turf Cup (G2T), and the $600,0000 Franklin-Simpson Stakes (G2T).
In the Calumet Turf Cup (G2T), the card’s crown jewel, Donegal Racing, Joseph Bulger, and the Estate of Peter Coneway’s Arklow, who will try to defend his 2020 title in the mile and a half turf test, is the 3-1 morning line choice in field that attracted 12 entrants. Jockey Florent Geroux will be astride the seven-year-old bay son of Arch for trainer Brad Cox.
