Churchill Downs jump starts its 21-day fall meet on Sunday, October 31 with its “Stars of Tomorrow I” program–a card devoted exclusively to two-year-old racing.

Sunday’s 11-race program for the juveniles features a pair of 8.5-furlong stakes races–the $200,000 Rags to Riches Stakes, for two-year-old fillies, and the $200,000 Street Sense Stakes for two-year-olds.

Mr. and Mrs. Tsunebumi Yoshihara’s Yuugiri, who broke her maiden by open lengths, covering six-furlongs in a snappy 1:09 2/5 under the Twin Spires on September 17, is the 2-1 choice on the morning line in the Rags to Riches Stakes, which attracted a compact field of four. Tyler Gaffalione will be astride the bay daughter of Shackleford for trainer Rodolphe Brisset.

In the Street Sense Stakes, Silverton Hill, LLC’s Red Danger, fourth in the Castle & Key Bourbon Stakes (G2T) at Keeneland in his last start on October 10, is the tepid 7-2 morning line favorite in a field that attracted eight entrants. Jockey Julien Leparoux has the call on the chestnut son of Orb for trainer Brian Lynch.

Jockey Tyler Gaffalione, who was the leading rider at Churchill Downs last fall with 41 wins, will be back to defend his title in 2021 and has seven mounts on Sunday’s program in Derby City. Trainer Mike Maker, who doesn’t have any horses running on opening day, annexed the training title last fall in Louisville, KY, sending out 21 winners.

Live racing will be conducted under the Twin Spires this fall Wednesdays through Sundays through November 28 with a daily post time of 1:00 P.M. (Eastern). Exceptions include a 2:00 P.M. (Eastern) first post on Friday, November 5 (Breeders’ Cup day one at Del Mar), a 1:45 P.M. (Eastern) post time on Saturday, November 6 (Breeders’ Cup day two at Del Mar), and an 11:30 A.M. (Eastern) post time on Thursday, November 25, Thanksgiving Day.
