Churchill Downs’ “Stars of Tomorrow II” program–a card devoted exclusively to two-year-old racing–is on the agenda on Saturday, November 27, the penultimate day of the 2021 Fall Meet in Louisville, KY.

Saturday’s 12-race program for the juveniles features four stakes races–the $200,000 Lively Shively Stakes for two-year-old fillies sprinting 6.5-furlongs on the main track, the $400,000 Golden Rod Stakes (G2) for two-year-old fillies slated for an 8.5-furlong trip on the dirt, the $400,000 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (G2) for two-year-olds going a mile and a sixteenth on the main track, and the $200,000 Fern Creek Stakes, a 6.5-furlong dirt sprint for two-year-old fillies.

Susan Moulton’s Sandstone, an impressive open-length winner of the Rags to Riches Stakes under the Twin Spires on October 31, is the 8-5 morning line favorite for the Golden Rod Stakes (G2), which attracted a field of eight entrants. Jockey Brian Hernandez, Jr. will be astride the daughter of Street Sense for trainer Ken McPeek.

In the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (G2), Phoenix Thoroughbred III, Ltd.’s Tiz the Bomb, second in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1T) at Del Mar in his last start on November 5, is the 3-1 morning line choice in a full field of 13 entrants. Brian Hernandez, Jr. has the call on the bay son of Hit It a Bomb for trainer Ken McPeek.
