A 10-race program is on tap at Gulfstream Park on Sunday, December 19, closing out a five-day week of Thoroughbred racing action in Hallandale Beach, Fla.

The featured ninth race on the card is a $62,500 optional claiming/classified allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward. Originally scheduled for the turf, the race has been moved off the grass and will be contested at an approximately one-mile and 70-yard trip on Gulfstream’s all-weather Tapeta surface.

Matriarca’s Brown Storm (Chi), who will be making his first start since October 9 at Keeneland, is the tepid 5-1 morning line favorite in a field that was acratched down to eight entrants. Jockey Hector Berrios has the call on the six-year-old chestnut son of Scat Daddy for trainer Amador Sanchez.

Steam Has Hat Trick On Saturday’s Card

Steam gave out three winners on Saturday’s 11-race program at Gulfstrteam Park and, as a result, 12 days into the 2020-21 Championship Meet in South Florida, its top picks are winning at a 30 percent clip and have finished in the money 63 percent of the time.

Post time for the first of 10 races at Gulfstream Park on Sunday, December 19 is 12:30 P.M. (Eastern). Additionally, there is a $188,836 carryover in the 20-cent Rainbow 6 Jackpot (races 5-10, 2:26 P.M. (Eastern) post time).
