Matareya Goes For Black Type In Beaumont
Nine races are on the agenda at Keeneland Race Course on Sunday, April 10, as the historic Lexington, KY racetrack closes out the opening weekend of its 2022 Spring Meet.
The card is highlighted by two stakes races–the $200,000 Palisades Stakes for three-year-olds sprinting 5.5-furlongs on the Haggin Turf Course, and the $400,000 Beaumont Stakes (G3) presented by Keeneland Select for three-year-old fillies going seven furlongs and 184 feet on the main track.
In the Beaumont Stakes (G3)–the card’s centerpiece–Godolphin, LLC’s Matareya, an open-length winner in the alowance ranks at Fair Grounds in her last start, is the 2-1 morning line favorite in field that attracted seven entrants. Jockey Flavien Prat has the call on the bay daughter of Pioneerof the Nile for trainer Brad Cox.
Steam Has Pair Of Wins On Saturday’s Program
Steam gave out a pair of winners on Saturday’s 11-race Blue Grass Stakes program at Keeneland and, as a result, two days into the nascent 2022 Spring Meet in Central Kentucky, its top picks are winning at a 14 percent clip and have finished in the money 52 percent of the time.
