Kentucky Derby Week 2022 steams ahead at Churchill Downs on Wednesday, May 4 with a 10-race program on the docket at the historic Louisville, KY racetrack.

The card features a pair of stakes races–the $160,000 St. Matthews Overnight Stakes for four-year-olds and upward sprinting six-furlongs on the main track, and the $200,000 William Walker Stakes for three-year-olds sprinting 5.5-furlongs on the newly renovated Matt Winn Turf Course.

In the St. Matthews Stakes, David Ingordo’s Tulane Tryst, second in the Whitmore Stakes (G3) in his last start at Oaklawn Park on March 19, is the tepid 7-2 morning line favorite in a field that was scratched down to seven entrants. Jockey Brian Hernandez, Jr. will be astride the four-year-old son of Into Mischief for trainer Cherie DeVaux.

In the William Walker Stakes, Reeves Thoroughbred Racing’s Big Invasion, winner of the $75,000 Texas Glitter Stakes in his last start at Gulfstream Park on March 26, is the 9-5 morning line choice in a field that attracted nine entrants. Joel Rosario has the call on the three-year-old son of Into Mischief for trainer Christophe Clement.
