Weyburn Gets Nod In Feature
Churchill Downs jump starts a summer weekend of Thoroughbred racing action in Derby City with a nine-race program on tap on Friday, June 10 at the iconic Louisville, KY racetrack.
The featured ninth race on the card is an $80,000 optional claiming / “three other than” allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward slated for an eight-furlong trip around one-turn on the main track.
Chiefswood Stables’ Weyburn, fourth in the Alysheba Stakes (G2) in his last start at Churchill Downs on May 6, is the 5-2 morning line favorite in a compact field of six. Jockey Martin Garcia will be astride the four-year-old son of Pioneerof the Nile for trainer Brendan Walsh.
