Churchill Downs jump starts a five-day week of Thoroughbred racing with a nine-race program on the agenda on Wednesday, June 22. First post is an earlier-than-normal 10:30 A.M. (Eastern), as temperatures are expected to reach the upper 90s in Louisville, KY.
The featured ninth race on the card is a $20,000 starter allowance event for four-year-olds and upward sprinting six-furlongs on the main track.
Mark Arnold’s Divine Leader, fifth as the favorite in his most recent start at Churchill Downs on May 29, is the 5-2 morning line favorite in a field that attracted eight entrants. Jockey Edgar Morales has the call on the five-year-old chestnut son of Will Take Charge for trainer John Ennis.
