Nine races are on the docket at Churchill Downs on Monday, July 4, the final day of the 2022 Spring Meet in Louisville, KY.

The card features three stakes–the $175,000 Bashford Manor Stakes, a six-furlong sprint for two-year-olds, the $175,000 Debutante Stakes for two-year-old fillies going six-panels on the main track, and the $175,000 Hanshin Stakes Presented By JRA, a one-mile test around one-turn on dirt for four-year-olds and upward.

In the Bashford Manor, William and Corinne Heiligbrodt’s Gulfport, an open-length winner in his career debut under the Twin Spires on June 10, is the prohibitive 4-5 morning line choice in a compact field of six. Veteran reinsman Brian Hernandez, Jr. will be astride the bay son of Uncle Mo for trainer Steve Asmussen.

In the Debutante, Stephen Herriage’s Empire of My Own, who broke her maiden in her second start at Churchill Downs on June 10, is the 9-5 morning line favorite in a field that attracted seven entrants. Jockey Julien Leparoux has the call on the daughter of Classic Empire for Hall-of-Famer Steve Asmussen.

Finally, in the Hanshin Stakes, Godolphin, LLC’s Cody’s Wish, a perfect three-for-three on the main track at Churchill Downs, is the definitive 8-5 morning line choice in a field of seven. Jockey Junior Alvarado will be astride the four-year-old bay son of Curlin for trainer Bill Mott.
