Sophomores In Spotlight On Labor Day

Kentucky Downs’ seven-day FanDuel Meeting continues on Monday, September 5, a make-up day for the Sunday, September 4 program, which was cancelled due to inclement weather in the Franklin, KY area.
The 11-race card is highlighted by a pair of stakes races for three-year-olds going a mile and five-sixteenths on the grass — the $500,000 Exacta Systems Dueling Grounds Oaks for fillies and the $750,000 Big Ass Fans Dueling Grounds Derby (G3T).
In the Dueling Grounds Oaks, Qatar Racing, Ltd., Marc Detampel, and Fergus Galvin’s New Year’s Eve — third in the Saratoga Oaks Invitational Stakes (G3T) in her last start on August 7 — is the 3-1 morning line choice in a field that attracted 11 entrants. Jockey Tyler Gaffalione will be astride the chestnut daughter of Kitten’s Joy for trainer Brendan Walsh.
In the Dueling Grounds Derby (G3T), Donegal Racing’s Ready to Purrform, who wired the field in the National Museum of Racing’s Hall of Fame Stakes (G2T) at Saratoga in his last start on August 5, is the 3-1 morning line favorite in a full field of 12. Joel Rosario has the call on the chestnut son of Kitten’s Joy for trainer Brad Cox.
Post time is 12:25 P.M. (Central).
