Churchill Downs kicks-off a weekend of Thoroughbred racing in Derby City with a 10-race program on the docket on Friday, September 16 at the Louisville, KY racetrack.
The featured eighth race on the card is a $100,000 optional claiming/third-level allowance event for fillies and mares three-years-old and upward slated for a seven-furlong trip on the main track.
Rocket Ship Racing, LLC et al’s Lovemesomeme, third in the Lady Tak Stakes in her last start at Churchill Downs on August 13, is the 8-5 morning line choice in a field that attracted seven entrants. Journeyman rider Jon Court will be astride the four-year-old daughter of Will Take Charge for Hall-of-Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas.
$28,317 Carryover In Derby City 6 Jackpot
On Friday’s program, there is a $28,317 carryover in the 20-cent Derby City 6 (races 5-10, 2:45 P.M. (Eastern) post time), and a $2,986 carryover in the $1 Super Hi-5 (10th race, 5:26 P.M. (Eastern) post time).
Live racing will be conducted under the Twin Spires in September Wednesday through Sunday through October 2 with a daily post time of 12:45 P.M. (Eastern). Exceptions include a 5:00 P.M. (Eastern) first post on Thursday, September 22 and Thursday, September 29, and a a 6:00 P.M. (Eastern) first post on Saturday, September 24.
