Two Stakes On Menu On Turkey Day In Louisville
A 12-race program highlighted by a pair of Grade 3 stakes races is on tap at Churchill Downs on Thursday, November 24–Thanksgiving Day at at the iconic Louisville, KY racetrack. Post time is 11:30 A.M. (Eastern).
The stakes action begins in the tenth race with the $500,000 Falls City Stakes (G3), a nine-furlong dirt contest for fillies and mares three-years-old and upward, and continues in the eleventh race with the $300,000 Cardinal Stakes (G3T) for fillies and mares three-years-old and upward slated for a nine-furlong journey on the Matt Winn Turf Course.
In the Falls City Stakes (G3), Rigney Racing, LLC’s Played Hard, third in the Juddmonte Spinster Stakes (G1) at Keeneland in her last start on October 9, is the prohibitive 4-5 morning line favorite in a compact field of six. Jockey Joel Rosario has the call on the four-year-old bay daughter of Into Mischief for trainer Philip Bauer.
In the Cardinal Stakes (G3T), Godolphin, LLC’s Adventuring, fifth in the E. P. Taylor Stakes (G1T) at Woodbine in her last start on October 8, is the 9-5 morning line choice in a field that attracted nine entrants. Joel Rosario will be astride the four-year-old bay daughter of Pioneerof the Nile for trainer Brad Cox.
