Beth’s Dream Formidable In Feature

Nine-races are on the docket at Gulfstream Park on Friday, March 17, as the Hallandale Beach racetrack kicks-off St. Patrick’s Day weekend in South Florida.

The fifth race on the card–the nominal feature–is a $62,500 optional claiming/classified allowance contest for four-year-olds and upward slated for an eight-furlong trip around one-turn on the main track.

Virginia and James E. Gamble’s Beth’s Dream, third in the Wayward Lass Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs in her most recent start on January 14, is the prohibitive even-money morning line favorite in a compact field of five. Jockey Jose Ortiz, Jr. will be astride the five-year-old bay daughter of Jess’s Dream for trainer Victor Barboza, Jr.

Steam Has Hat Trick On Thursday’s Card

Steam touted three winners on Thursday’s nine-race program at Gulfstream Park and, as a result, 58 days into the 2022-23 Championship Meet, its top selections are winning at a 25 percent clip and have finished in the money 63 percent of the time.

Post time for the first of nine races at Gulfstream Park on Friday, March 17 is 12:40 P.M. (Eastern). Additionally, there is a $244,390 carryover in the 20-cent Rainbow 6 Jackpot (races 4-9, 2:08 P.M. (Eastern) post time).
