Pair Of Stakes On Tap On Saturday

A 12-race program featuring a pair of stakes races is on tap at Gulfstream Park on Saturday, March 18, as a weekend of Thoroughbred racing continues in South Florida.
The stakes action begins in the eighth race with the $100,000 Hutcheson Stakes for three-year-olds sprinting six-panels on the dirt, and concludes in the eleventh race with the $100,000 Silks Run Stakes for four-year-olds and upward slated for a five-furlong journey on the turf.
Lea Farms, LLC’s Super Chow, second in the Swale Stakes (G3) in his most recent start at Gulfstream Park on February 4, is the definitive even-money morning line favorite in the Hutcheson Stakes, which was scratched down to a compact field of four. Chantal Sutherland has the call on the son of Lord Nelson for trainer Jorge Delgado.
In the Silks Run Stakes, Reeves Thoroughbred Racing’s Big Invasion, who will be making his four-year-old debut, is the 5-2 morning line choice in a field that attracted 10 entrants. Jockey Joel Rosario will be astride the bay son of Declaration of War for trainer Christophe Clement.
