10-races are on the docket at Churchill Downs on Friday, May 19–the first “Downs After Dark” program of the 2023 spring meet at the historic Louisville, KY racetrack. Post time is a later than normal 6:00 P.M. (Eastern).
The eighth race on the card–the nominal feature–is an $80,000 optional claiming, “two other than” allowance affair for three-year-olds and upward slated for a nine-furlong trip on the Matt Winn Turf Course.
Gaining Ground Racing, LLC’s Price Talk, seventh in the $122,000 Dust Commander Stakes on Tapeta at Turfway Park back in February, is the 5-2 morning line choice in a field that attracted 11 entrants. Jockey Chris Landeros has the call on the chestnut son of Kitten’s Joy for trainer Brad Cox.

Steam gave out one winner on the eight-race “Twilight Thursday” program on May 18 at Churchill Downs and, as a result, 11 days into the 2023 Spring Meet in Derby City, its top picks are winning at a 29 percent clip and have finished in the money 65 percent of the time.
