Bling Holds Winning Hand In Feature
A nine-race program is on the docket at Ellis Park on Friday, July 7, as the Henderson, KY racetrack kicks off its 24-day 2023 summer meet.
Post time for the first race on the card is 11:45 A.M. (Central).
The fifth race on the program–the nominal feature–is a $74,000 entry-level allowance affair for fillies and mares three-years-old and upward slated for an eight-furlong trip on turf.
G. Watts Humphrey, Jr.’s Bling, third in the Horseshoe Indianapolis Handicap in her last start at Horseshoe Indianapolis on May 17, is the 3-1 morning line choice in a field that attracted 10 entrants. Jockey Rafael Bejarano has the call on the three-year-old gray daughter of American Pharoah for trainer Victoria Oliver.
Corrales, Ortiz Back In Mix To Defend Titles
Jockey Gerardo Corrales, who was the leading rider at Ellis Park in 2022 with 22 wins, and trainer John Ortiz, who took home top training honors with 12 victories, will be back to defend their respective titles at the Pea Patch in 2023.
Corrales is named on five horses on the opening day program while Ortiz does not have an entrant on the card.
Racing will be conducted in the Ti-City Area July 7-August 27, Fridays through Sundays. First post is 11:45 A.M. (Central).
